It’s been only a few months since Courtney Love paid to settle that unique lawsuit claiming she defamed a fashion designer via Twitter. Now the rocker has been sued again for comments made online, this time by lawyers who represented her in an effort to pursue money allegedly stolen from the estate of her late husband, Kurt Cobain.
Gordon & Holmes, a San Diego-based law firm, filed suit Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming the firm represented Love from December 2008 to May 2009, but toward the end of the representation, Love allegedly became angry when the firm’s partner Rhonda Holmes asked that Love refrain from “any and all substance abuse” during the attorney-client relationship, according to the suit. Earlier this month, the three surviving members of Pink Floyd – Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason – reunited at London’s 02 Arena. It was only the second time they have shared a stage since Live 8 in 2005. That same week (what a coincidence!) they announced a reissue project for their entire catalog. To mark the occasion, Rolling Stone asked their readers to vote for their favorite Pink Floyd song. Here are the results.

At a climactic moment in “Circuital,”the title track of My Morning Jacket’s new album, things take a turn toward the homestretch. “Out on the circuit, on the hallowed ground,” the band’s lead singer, Jim James, wails, a hint of hoarseness creeping into his voice, “ending up in the same place that we started out.”
Bass and drums chug heavily behind him, while a piano spools out major-key arpeggios. There’s an acoustic guitar, briskly strummed, and an electric guitar, all humid twang. Read more...

On blues vet Shawn Pittman’s 10th release, the listener will swear the Oklahoma native is recording live with a hot, grooving blues-roots outfit.
But that’s not the case.
Pulling a Stevie Wonder/Paul McCartney move, the Texas-based guitar slinger/vocalist plays every instrument save for Jonathan Doyle’s wonderful honking saxophone work. But the disc’s dozen original tunes paired with Howlin’ Wolf’s “Sugar (Where’d You Get Your Sugar From?)” sound energized and spontaneous, as if Pittman were rocking with a seasoned combo.
Since the late ’90s Pittman has worked with such blues luminaries as Mike Morgan, Sam Myers and Susan Tedeschi, and he brings all those lessons learned to the forefront on this rustic-sounding blues-roots recording. Read more...

Our own Caroline the librarian is a closet metalhead and will be bringing us the latest and greatest in the world of head banging. Keep an eye on this space!

Remember when you could’ve sworn you saw the young Bob Dylan looking shy and introspective on the cover of the latest Rolling Stone?
You weren’t hallucinating - this time.
Is ”Like a Rolling Stone” Bob Dylan’s greatest song?
That was Dylan. Rolling Stone decided to commemorate his 70th birthday with a list, of course – this one compiling the 70 Greatest Dylan Songs. As lists go, it’s not bad, with “Like a Rolling Stone” at No. 1 and “I Shall Be Released” at No. 6, although the outrageous omission of the first song I thought of when thinking of classics they might have omitted, the awe-inspiring “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine),” has left me looking for a fight. Amy Winehouse has checked into rehab again, her rep confirms.
The singer “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic,” her rep tells People in a statement. “She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.”
She was convinced to check into the Priory clinic on Wednesday by her father, Mitch.
“Her dad sat her down and said ‘I think you’re drinking too much again.’ So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem,” an unnamed friend told People.
The same source says the “Rehab” singer downed a miniature bottle of Smirnoff vodka on her way to the clinic “in typical Amy style.” Read more...

“As soon as I got a microphone in my hand, when I was about 14, I realised I wanted to do this,” she says. “Most people don’t like the way their voice sounds when it’s recorded. I was just so excited by the whole thing that I wasn’t bothered what it sounded like.”
A fan of such diverse artists as Jill Scott, Etta James, Billy Bragg, Peggy Lee, Jeff Buckley and The Cure, Adele’s soul-tinged songs of love’s lost and memories made are set to resonate with all who hear them.
“I’ve got no problem explaining what my lyrics are about,” ADELE says. “I really like poetry: I’m not very good at reading it, but I love writing it. Singers like Jill Scott and Karen Dalton are amazing; proper poets.” Read more...

As his tour enters its final weekend, Bob Seger is talking about returning in the fall — and also about retiring for good.
Because “there are so many places we didn’t play” on the current 27-date run that began March 26 in Toledo, Seger tells Billboard.com that another tour later this year is a serious consideration. “I must admit we are kind of glancing at the fall,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer acknowledges. “We didn’t play anywhere in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky… I could go on and on. There were states we never even got to…And it’s going so well and everybody is so positive on it, we are considering maybe two months, like late October to late December, just before Christmas.” Seger says he hopes to make a decision by mid-June. “I’m a firm believer in the longer you live, the better you get.” – Bob Dylan
Dylan said that in 1968, when he was 27. He turns 70 this month, as enigmatic as ever, a traveling troubadour on a self-proclaimed Never Ending Tour that began in 1988 and saw him playing 102 shows last year. He has been the young protest singer claiming he’s unconcerned with politics, the confessional songwriter who has offered as many myths as truths about his personal life, and the aging chronicler of the American folk songbook.
Here are 10 defining Dylan moments. Read more...
